I’m sitting here in France, working at a desk that looks out a window, where in the distance I see the Cévennes mountains and valleys. Even though it’s gray and cloudy, the view is still lovely. In the foreground, on top of the next house, directly in my eye line, is a weather vane. On the top is an image of a wild boar and a man pointing a rifle at the boar. I think to myself that this seems like a strangely violent thing to have atop a weather vane. But, on Saturday, when I arrived in this town, I saw a man with a rifle walking alongside the road and later passed some wild boar. So, it seems that this is a big deal here in Saint-Bresson.
