I took my first trip (as an adult) to a farmer’s market today. (Yes, my first time. No, I haven’t been to one before. Yes, really.) Though my veteran-market-shopping companion initially wanted to take me there to score a “big bin of lavender for practically nothing,” it turned out there was no lavender today. (Hmmm, is there a “season” for lavender?)
I did get some good stuff, though. I decided to be a little adventurous and buy some things I’ve never cooked with before. Got some cherries (which I tried for the first time in my life about two weeks ago), some chillies (in need of chili-pepper-related recipes), and some super-cute, super-purple, Indian Eggplants.
I’m not even a big fan of eggplant, but I couldn’t resist the cuteness — they got me. For only 15 cents, I figured it was worth experimenting.
I got a big bag (provided by my awesome designer-friend Cynthia) filled with fresh goods for less than $15. Not a bad morning!
