A couple of weeks ago, I read a friend’s blog post about customizing a journal. I had never really thought of this before (not being a big journal-girl), but the timing couldn’t have been more perfect.
It just so happens that I was in the midst of reading (and hence, journaling) through the book The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity. As I was approaching the end of my first cute notebook/journal (purchased for just a few dollars at WalMart), and was considering dropping in to buy another – I read the post and got inspired.
So, today, I spent the afternoon with my crafty friend Kathianne (aka, Queen of the Collage). With her guidance (as I’ve never decoupaged before . . . yes, this is clearly a month of “firsts” . . . must be the influence of The Artist’s Way), I transformed a 15-cent spiral notebook into a fun, pretty, and inspiring journal — designed just for me!
I made a few first-timer mistakes, like not putting enough glue on the back of things and pasting down favorite items too soon in the process — but it all turned out lovely in the end.
This is the “Queen of Collage” here. I love the title! Thanks! I think your first dabble into decoupage was a success. And doesn’t your notebook make you so happy? Kathianne
found your blog by way of your post on Kimberly Wilson’s blog.
Your notebook’s beautiful!
I just tried decoupage for the first time yesterday & made similar mistakes (creases from air bubbles, etc). but it was so fun i’m now looking around for other things to cover :)
